Danzig Deth Red Sabaoth CD Review

31 May 2010 No Comment

This is a Danzig album. If you don’t know what that means then you have never listened to a Danzig album and for that I’m giving you an F on your metal report card to take home to mommy. Danzig recordings come in 2 flavors from what I have experienced. There are the Danzig CDs that put the “eh?” in “meh” (6:66 Satan’s Child ) and then there are the CDs where he dips his hands wrist deep in the hard rock black ink and busts out the power grooves that crawl up your spine. This is the latter. Which is good. Very good. Deth Red Sabaoth is a return to the intensity of D2 and D3. It is heavy and it is hooky and it is Danzig being his unrestrained self. This is a very solid album and easily one of his best. My favorite song on Deth Red Sabaoth is good ol’ #8 “Night Star Hel”. You can always tell a good Danzig album when you can’t pronounce anything and the song titles are missing letters. Seriously, if you are an old fan who has been waiting 6 years for this record then dive in because Deth Red Sabaoth delivers. If you are someone who is new to Danzig besides the “Mother” repeats on the radio then this is a great album to start with and work your way backwards.
