Review of the new Iconocaust CD “Judas Complex”
Iconocaust don’t really write songs. They write 5 minute bone saw symphonies of utter brutality, complexity, and incredible neck breaking heaviness that only the truly gifted and moderately insane can pull off. These guys are obviously both. If you think this is just hype and hyperbole please take a moment to go to their sites and listen right now and come back. I’ll wait right here for your return.
The Judas Complex CD is basically 7 heaven igniting songs framed by a wicked evil sounding intro and a very beautiful outro with vocals by the hauntingly talented Tamara Bustamante. The album is produced by Ahrue Luster of Ill Nino and mastered by Dave Otero who obviously are 2 very knowledgeable and inspired uber dudes who know how to make an intensely good metal album.
My favorite songs on this CD are “Beaten Bloodied Broken” (because it brings the pain and it proves that the decades of metal can be blended into the same song if the band has the talent), “Lies of the Betrayer” (cuz it just freakin rules like you wouldn’t believe), and “Final Doom” which shreds like an origami army marching against a bunch of running chainsaws. It shreds and it shreds hard.
Put Iconocaust on your watch and listen list and get the Judas Complex CD. ‘nuf said.
