KORN Ballroom Blitz
I’ve always been one to travel far and wide to photograph a band that I’ve been a fan of and enjoy seeing. Korn happens to be one of those bands. A friend of mine and I busted a road trip June 4th to Las Vegas, Nevada to see Korn while on their Ballroom Blitz Tour. Playing the Pearl inside the beautiful Palms Hotel.
I wasn’t expecting to arrive into Vegas and be greeted by 105 degree weather, but that’s just my luck. While sitting in the casino lobby waiting for my credentials to be delivered to the box office, I am surprised by seeing a familiar face walking around. For a second I couldn’t quite remember this persons name but I knew I’d seen him somewhere before. Then it hit me, it was Adair formerly of Manntis. You might remember him from his passionate competing towards the ultimate prize of playing on the 2004 Ozzfest on the MTV reality show, Battle For Ozzfest. Although Manntis wasn’t playing this show, his new band 2 Cents was and they killed it! It was great to see Adair had made it and was opening up for none other then Korn.
Korn has always been to me one of those bands that have been around for well over 10 years yet have never stopped doing what they love to do. Never have they “taken a break” or gone on hiatus. Despite a slight line up change, they’ve always kept their fans in mind and made it a point to constantly put out one successful album after the next and are always evolving their unique sound.
Korn put on an amazing show. Despite Munky being slightly more intoxicated then needed and destroying an amp and playing while laying down on top of the amps. They played the classics like “Blind”, “Somebody, Someone”, “Freak On A Leash” and “Got The Life”. As well as some newer stuff like “Coming Undone”, “Did My Time” and “Oildale (Leave Me Alone)” which is their new single off their soon to be released album “Korn III: Leave Me Alone, which is due for release July 13th.
All in all it was a great time. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, minus the sweltering heat that made my pants stick to me.
