55,000 tickets sold, 60,000 people in attendance, 2 stages, 12 hours, 15 bands, 10 hours of pouring rain and 2 feet of mud. This is literally what 98.9’s Rockfest 2010 in Kansas City, Missouri at the Liberty Memorial Park was all about on Saturday May 15th.
It was a trek to get from one stage to the next and waddling in 2 feet of mud, losing my shoe a few times and attempting to keep my camera dry didn’t make things any easier. The main stage had Rev Theory, Papa Roach, Seether, Godsmack, Drowning Pool, Three Days Grace and Halestorm. The Monster Energy Drink Second Stage had Five Finger Death Punch, Janus, Shamans Harvest, The Veer Union, BurnHalo, Airbourne, Adelitas Way and Taddy Porter. Some of the hottest and most popular bands out there at the moment were brought together for a day of good music.
One thing is for sure, Kansas City has some of the most crazy, dedicated and outright insane fans any band could ask for. Crowd surfing, withstanding the freezing on again off again rain, being covered in mud from head to toe and being pushed and shoved by the surrounding 60,000 people around you definitely made my first Rockfest experience something to remember.
