Hollywood bands together for Fostered Youth
(Hollywood, CA) No strangers to the Sunset Strip, these Hollywood Rock and Metal musicians have joined forces in a musical collaboration. Guitarist/Producer Josh Buma (Malaki) along with Vocalists Carl Bensley (Snot, Instinct of Aggression, and Consume the Fire), and Lucy Levinsohn (Evolove) got together for an unlikely pairing that resulted in an Anthemic Inspirational Rock Song, “Keep on Fighting” under the moniker JCL.
The song will be released via bandcamp on Friday, January 20th with the “Pay what you like” model. Proceeds from the song will go to Together We Rise, a non-profit organization that gives back to fostered youth.
“I wanted to collaborate with other like-minded musicians in the community, I hit up Josh and Carl with the idea and they were both game!”, says Lucy of how the group got together. “Josh suggested we give the proceeds to charity, Carl and I LOVED the idea, I had heard of an amazing organization called Together We Rise that is doing amazing things for children in foster care and knew that we should get involved!”
“The 3 of us come from the same scene yet completely different musical styles. I’d been focused on my own thing for so long it felt interesting to see if I could step out of my own box and write music that covered a wide range of styles yet was instantly Memorable.” I think Lucy and Carl came up with great contributions to the track and Im stoked that our efforts will reward those in need.” – Josh Buma
“Lucy called me up one day with this idea to work with Josh and I on this track and I’m really proud of how it turned out. I always strive to make music with a lot of energy that will inspire people in some way. If I can do that with other amazing musicians and help people along the way, there is nothing better. That’s what I live for.” – Carl Bensley
Together We Rise is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of motivated young adults and former foster youth. Their vision is to improve the lives of foster children in America, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. They collaborate with community partners to bring resources to foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system.
TWR works with hundreds of foster agencies, social workers, CASA advocates, and other partners to bring theri programs to foster youth across the nation. The foundation has provided thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and suitcases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.
