11 February 2011 No Comment

Los Angeles, California – February 11, 2011 – The alternative/progressive rock power trio, Oedipus will be on New Music Inferno tonight at 7PM EST. To tune in, please go to: www.blogtalkradio.com/newmusicinferno. The band will be talking about their highly anticipated album, due to be released summer 2011.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, OEDIPUS has been topping the Polish Modern Rock charts for over seven months and counting. Their hit singles, “Tres Las” and “Burn It Down”, released as a digital singles in the States back in June 2010, will have you dancing your way into 2011. With reminiscence of the rock-like melodies of Muse and 311, this is something you don’t want to miss out on. As ScenePointBlank.com describes them, “a three piece making more noise then a three piece rightly should, [Oedipus] manage the type of grandiose, over-sexed, balls out, guitar rock that are both melodic and epic”. Oedipus consists of Jeremy Haffner, bass and lead vocals, Stephen Cohen, guitar and vocals, and Keith Larsen, drums and vocals. At the age of thirteen, while studying the Oedipus trilogy in middle school Latin class, these three musicians began using the name exclusively. As Haffner stated in a recent interview with ASCAP, “The symbolism, and relative shock value definitely had something to do with the choice. Also, it’s a great sounding word”.

Just returning from a one off Polish performance sponsored by Eska Rock, Poland’s equivalent to Clear Channel, for their annual Rocktoberfest Birthday bash, the band spent 5 days doing press for their self-titled full-length Polish debut release, the station even launched a Youtube fan generated submission contest where listeners were encouraged to record their own music videos of themselves lip synching to the song, generating thousands of submissions for a chance to win tickets to the private event.

Currently in the wake of this success, “Tres Las” has recently been added to Poland’s first installment of the well known US mix CD NOW That’s What I Call Music Vol. 1 keeping company with such US Pop icons as Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Ke$ha, to name a few. As well as being charted on Eska Rock’s top 100 songs of 2010, “Tres Las” #3, and “Burn It Down” at #36. While achieving mass appeal overseas as many contemporary rock acts such as The White Stripes & Kings of Leon have done before achieving national recognition stateside, Oedipus is ready to take the US by storm in 2011.
