CD Review: Mandolyn Mae’s – Once
(By Brandy Cordova)
Nineteen-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter, Mandolyn Mae, recently released her new album, Once, on June 25th, 2013 via Easy Killer Records. The album all in all is good. It’s filled with upbeat tempos, piano, acoustic guitar, sweet vocals with love angst-filled lyrics.
“Here We Are” starts off the new album with a soft vibe. “On and On” keeps that vibe, but adds a faster beat. The first single off the new album, “Hurricane”, follows with a similar soft vibe, but the added piano makes it deeper and richer. “Drive All Night” showcases Mandolyn Mae’s acoustic abilities, while “Just a Little Bit” showcases her ability to merge multiple sounds gathered from her music background. “Adrenaline” and “Tonight” are the heavier, faster songs on the album.
Mandolyn Mae has her own unique sound and vibe to her live concerts. She is on the musical ladder and climbing it very well. Her first single “Hurricane” recently premiered on ArtistDirect.com and she is slated to perform at the Vans Warped Tour in July.
