Go Radio: Do Overs and Second Chances CD

13 June 2010 2 Comments

Have you ever loaded up your car for a summer cross country road trip and taken every CD you own along for the ride just to make sure you get to your destination without tedium or back woods AM radio setting in? Ever just end up listening to one CD the whole way because it becomes the soundtrack for the vacation? Yeah, Go Radio’s new album Do Overs and Second Chances is that CD.

Do Overs and Second Chances clocks in at only seven songs so I guess technically it’s an EP. These seven songs are written and performed with such emotion, intelligence, and sheer intensity that you know Go Radio is planning on making this second chance work. If you think I’m using that as segue to get into some previous bands politics, I’m not. Go Radio is its own beast and Do Overs and Second Chances is a stellar piece of work that completely stands on its own.

Each of the 7 songs has its own feel and sound but is distinctly Go Radio. So what are my favorite songs on the CD? Got a dart I can throw? Okay I think #4 “It’s Not A Trap, I Promise” is amazing and “You Hold Your Breath, I’ll Hold My Liquor” is going to make a major dent in indie, alternative, and college radio. Oh and #7 “Goodnight Moon” is ludicrous good. Overall the CD is great with song writing most other bands will envy and lyrics that will engage your brain while you are singing along.

This summer Go Radio has a very extensive tour schedule. I recently saw Go Radio in concert with A Day To Remember and Silverstein and their performance was as intense and emotional as their CD. The crowd in Denver, who I can pretty much guarantee most of whom hadn’t heard the new songs yet, were completely into the set. It was a sold out show and Denver was going nuts for the opener. Which was Go Radio. They will be switching their concert bill title of “opener” to “headliner” before 2010 is on its way out.

Go to their sites. Get the CD. And definitely see Go Radio live.
