Casey plays drums, buckets, didgeridoo, an ipad, anything else he can get his hands on, and sings like a Disney princess. Boo plays bass, buckets, synths, screams, and headbangs.

How did Downfall 2012 come about? Downfall 2012 originated in the local Houston music scene in 1997 with a different lineup. In 2007 Boo, and Casey were recruited by Danny to pick up where the former band left off. The band quickly graduated into an independent touring act and have been hard at it ever since.

How did you come up with the name? Originally in observation of the Mayan belief that the world would experience an end as we knew it. Intrigued by the suggestion there would potentially be a new era of time to follow, I went with the name. We’ve since found personal relevance and decided to keep the name, post the actual year.

We build together from there. We have very different personal musical preferences so we all pull from different places. Boo and Casey often refine a musical structure together. I tend to write lyrics in the last step of the process, usually inspired by something that agitates me… personal, political, social, etc..

What is the most exciting thing Downfall 2012 has done? We’ve been blessed with an incredible list of experiences and opportunities. The best to date has been the process of creating our upcoming album “We Welcome The Pain”. We locked ourselves in our personal studio for just shy of a week to complete the writing of an album worth of songs we’d been messing around with over the prior year. Then, our bad ass producer Jim Finley flew into town record the record in the same facility we wrote it in. It came out incredible and we’re dying to get it out! A close second as far as “exciting” things we’ve done. Would be the tours we’ve been on.

Who have you toured with? Avatar, Otep, Saliva, Wilson, The ReAktion, Terror Universal, Thira, Sunflower Dead, and many others.

Where do you see Downfall 2012 going in the next 5 years? If “We Welcome The Pain” does what we think it will do… EVERYWHERE.

If you could tour with any artist(s), who would it be? Nothing More, Avatar (again!), System of a Down, Sevendust…. the list could go forever actually. Lol
