TAPROOT is set to release their fourth full length album, Plead the Fifth, on May 11th.  An exciting message for loyal fans, while recording the album, TAPROOT told AOL Noisecreep the disc would sound similar to their debut release, Gift, stating, “We’re definitely making it as heavy as possible and aggressive while still keeping a lot of the beautiful melodies..”  Who better to critique the new album and comparison then the bands former drummer, Jarrod Montague?

The full critique has been posted in TAPROOT’s myspace blog, viewable here: http://bit.ly/d6ypTq

About The Band:
To each person in America, the word “Midwest” conjures up certain images. But, before you get lost in the fields of corn and wheat, remember that Detroit is at it’s very heart – a machine-driven landscape built of the steel, grime and sweat of the many men and women that drove the motor city forward. This “never-say-die” attitude fostered a sonic rebellion manifested by the youth, and was captured in some of the finest American rock ‘n roll that the genre had ever recorded. A blue-collar work ethic mixed with urban frustration has given rise to many unique, energetic and creative artists, including TAPROOT.

From their very inception, TAPROOT has created a smarter and deeper style of post-hardcore and heavy melodic rock.  This overture can be credited to the unique combination of personalities in the band; Vocalist – Stephen Richards, Guitarist – Michael DeWolf, Bassist – Phil Lipscomb and newest addition, Drummer – Nick Fredell were all raised on the lessons of LED ZEPPELIN, the angst of ALICE IN CHAINS and the preaching of PANTERA, hoping that one day they could leave their imprint on the pages of rock ‘n roll history.

As the new millennium approached, the interest in heavier rock and metal grew. While others began to rely on gimmicks to gain attention and land deals, TAPROOT stayed true to the purity of their sound. As a new band, they focused on the riff, the groove and the growl that came to define themselves as artists. They honed their craft performing at colleges, basement shows and opening slots for touring acts. TAPROOT demonstrated that heavy music can still be emotionally intense, genuine and accessible to the masses. After proving their mettle in the fire of their live show, they caught the eye of Atlantic Records and began to take their place at the forefront of the genre.

Their debut in 2000 was welcomed with open arms and allowed them to become one of the Top Heavy Rock artists of the last decade. Refusing to compromise their musical vision and style, TAPROOT has sold over 900,000 albums, toured countless times with DEFTONES, CHEVELLE and INCUBUS, and have become international ambassadors in this ever growing modern metal pantheon. They created heavy rock that fans wanted and touched many people in times of need.

After tasting the success that the last decade of rock and metal had provided, TAPROOT has stayed grounded and outlived many of their peers. By maintaining their original passion for the riff and the pure enjoyment of simply playing real rock, TAPROOT has consistently kept themselves relevant throughout the new fads and trends that come and go so easily in this industry.  Standing proud and ready to move forward with this next chapter of their career… TAPROOT is still here.

The band is very proud to announce the release of their fifth and most powerful album, Plead The Fifth. Partnered with independent label leaders, Victory Records, TAPROOT is fired up to take over the rock spectrum. Plead The Fifth combines the elements that their fans have come to expect from them, with an updated take on their style of heavy rock. This partnership with Victory Records has been very liberating, and the band looks at it as a invigorating shock to the system and vital to the beginning of their next chapter. Never dependent on the latest trends, TAPROOT creates real American hard rock with soul, energy and power.

Plead The Fifth showcases their passion for raw rock and metal, while also reminding their listeners of the great depth in their songwriting. The songs are leaner, meaner and loaded with more punch and melody than any of the records that precede it.  Lead single, “Fractured (Everything I Said Was True)” is easily one of the catchiest and most riff-driven songs that they have ever written. Plead The Fifth hits stores on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
